During fall 2017, I launched and ran JMU's first-ever student-run communications marketing firm, Bluestone Communications. With the teamwork of one professor and five other students, we built the firm from the ground up, including aspects such as securing clients, building a website, creating logos, policies, applications and more.
Beginning spring 2018, JMU's top 15 communication, business and media arts and design students will work for Bluestone Communications and provide strategic PR planning, media relations, social media counseling, campaign implementation and primary research to several Harrisonburg clients.
As the firm is meant to allow top students to enhance their education with hands-on experiences, we only accepted 15 percent of applicants (60+ students applied!) to be staff members of the firm next semester for school credit and money.
