During fall 2017, I launched and ran JMU's first-ever student-run communications marketing firm, Bluestone Communications. Click the button below to learn more.
Prior to launching and running Bluestone Communications, I served as the director of professional development of the 115-member JMU chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA). As a member and through my leadership position, I organized and led our chapter to metropolitan areas for professional briefings at public relations agencies, planned and led professional development workshops, created and distributed our monthly newsletter to 240+ people via MailChimp and more.
During the year, I organized and led 25 members/faculty to Washington, D.C. and 20 members to New York City for professional briefings with 11 public relations agencies, planned and led resume, professional etiquette and ethics workshops, attended the 2016 PRSSA National Conference in Indianapolis, was selected to interview and assist in choosing a new public relations professor for JMU and more. Our chapter earned its first Star Chapter Award in 2016, and again in 2017.
PRSSA has been the most influential force in my college experience. Through this pre-professional organization, I found a passion for life-long learning, broadened my network, developed a sense of purpose and made memories and friends to last a lifetime. I love this organization, and I hope to continue to foster and grow my passion for public relations upon graduation.
