Hey there, Fashionistas/os! Welcome to my page! Let me introduce myself. My name is Peyton Johnson and I am a junior at James Madison University studying public relations and Spanish. I believe in drinking Starbucks daily, watching sunsets, bodysuits, laughing so hard your stomach hurts, exercising, love, fresh gel manicures and dancing (horribly) like nobody is watching. I believe in being a sequined dress in a sea of little black dresses and that the shortest horror story ever told is: sold out.
I believe that life is a party so you always should dress like it and ones personal style is more important than any fashion trend. Fashion is something designers give us four times a year but your style lasts a lifetime, if you want it to. With style, you can decide who you are and what you want to express simply by the way you live and how you dress. There is no way to truly go “out of style” because with clothing, you are showing a form of self-expression, providing others with hints about who you are with every outfit or accessory.
With the change in seasons coming upon us, I have mixed feelings about leaving my summer wardrobe behind and embracing the coziness that fall styles bring about. This fall, I am challenging myself to break rules, push boundaries and stand out in my everyday school wear. For this look, I took an outfit that I would traditionally label a city-girl look (my usual go-to since I was born and raised in Washington, DC) and incorporated Steve Madden sandals—something more casual than a pair of sky-high heels. The off-the-shoulder look has been a staple in my style this summer, and I have no plan to drop this look even as the season changes. Staying on-trend, I paired a moon choker and a double bar necklace for a layered look. The bodysuit and skirt combo is the perfect way for creating a polished look with little to no effort as well, and can easily transfer from day to night. I cannot wait to incorporate more outfits like this into my fall/school style.
The months that lie ahead will be filled with style, happiness and Starbucks… as always. Follow along with my posts here and you’ll quickly learn that I like my money where I can see it: hanging in my closet.
Fashion is art and you are the canvas. Keep painting, my loves!
